Meet Our Management Team in Bloomfield Hills
With an extensive list of skills and experience, our animal hospital management team is highly efficient at keeping our clinic running smoothly. Their background skills may vary, but their great love for animals is consistent across the board. Get to know the dedicated people who keep our hospital ticking.
Sue Gerkey, LVT, Practice Manager
Sue started at DePorre in 2014. Her education includes an associate degree in applied science from Macomb Community College as well as a Practice Manager Certification from Michigan State University. In her role as practice manager, she appreciates how passionate the entire team is and how they consistently give the absolute best care to the families and furry friends that visit DePorre. Additionally, she enjoys coaching, mentoring, and helping people reach their fullest potential in a positive environment.
Sue has three children named Nicole, Cassidy, and Danny. Her pets include a Brittany named Lilo, a Tri-colored Belton English Setter named Tanner, two feline friends named Tutti-Frutti and Marie. In her spare time, she enjoys running, walking, and hiking with her furry friends.
Erica Smith, Project Manager
Erica started at our hospital in 1998. She has worked here in the capacity of a receptionist and receptionist manager as well. She is married and has a cat, Cabo, named after a place that her husband and she have traveled. She enjoys traveling, reading, and going on Jeep adventures. Erica appreciates how much her co-workers love animals and that many team members have been here for over ten years.
Megan Fernandez, ACG Manager
Megan joined the DePorre team in 2016. Her education includes an associate degree in the liberal arts from Oakland Community College. Working here, Megan appreciates everyone’s hard work and dedication to the animals that come to DePorre Veterinary Hospital. She loves how everyone is looking out for the best interests of pets and their people.
At home, Megan and her boyfriend, Tony, have a Bernese Mountain Dog named Bert, with whom she shares a birthday and a kitty named Chico. Megan’s interests outside of work include competitive volleyball, spending time with Bert, traveling, enjoying the outdoors, and snowboarding. She also enjoys going to church and finding the time to be creative, too!
Katie Ressler, LVT, Technician Manager
Katie joined the DePorre team in 2012. She has an associate degree in applied science from Baker College, as well as a bachelor's degree in English from Oakland University. At DePorre, she appreciates the focus everyone has for making the experience as pleasant for the patient as possible and the deep care and compassion for every pet and their family.
Katie shares her home with several animals including Max, a Papillon, Frosty and Smokey, two domestic longhair cats, and multiple Saddlebred horses. In her spare time, what she loves most is riding and taking care of her horses, as well as reading.
Margie Gilbert, Pharmacy Manager
Margie has a multifaceted background with a B.A. in Business and a certification as a cardiac technician. She loves being at DePorre where she feels that all the doctors, technicians, and staff genuinely care about the patients and do their best to provide excellent care and treatment to all animals who pass through their doors.
Margie has four girls: Gena, Sara, Kaye, and Julie, as well as her partner, Tony. Together they share their home with several pets including their dog, Daisy Mae, their cats, Lilly, Hope, and Faith, and their horse, Trinity. When not at the clinic, she loves doing all sorts of outdoor activities, primarily cross-country horseback riding, gardening, and water activities like swimming, boating, kayaking, and snorkeling. Her special interests include traveling, going up north to the lake, and helping the kids. Her newest past time is refinishing antique furniture.
Kelley Stepanenko, Stylist/Groomer Manager
Kelley joined DePorre in 2016 and has extensive experience in pet grooming and care. She attended Utica College in New York, then received her veterinary technician certification from Baker College, and is currently enrolled at Southern New Hampshire University for a degree in graphic design. Her grooming certification came from Petsmart Grooming Academy in 2012. At her job, she really enjoys the family-like atmosphere of DePorre and everyone's teamwork.
Kelley and her husband, Chris, have two boys at home, Hank and Keaton, as well as two dogs, Quinn, a Corgi, and Gordie, a Husky. Her special interests include hockey, which she played in college and photography.
Jenny, Receptionist Manager
Jenny joined the DePorre team in 2014, and loves the working environment here. She feels that everyone gives 100% to provide the best care to our patients and clients, and the staff are always supportive of each other.
At home, Jenny has two cats, Ron and Percy, who are brothers, as well as their doggie sister, Greta, whom Jenny helped to deliver into the world.
